Biography
우리가 흔히들 이야기하는 소위 세계 3대 기타리스트가 모두 소속되었던 전설의 그룹 야드버즈 출신의 Jimmy Page가 야드버즈 해체 후 자신이 주축이 되어 보컬리스트 Robert Plant와 드러머 John Bonham 그리고 세션맨으로 명성을 날리던 베이시스트 John Paul Jones를 합류시켜 뉴야드버즈를 결성하면서 밴드의 역사가 시작되었다.
후에 Led Zeppelin 이란 팀명으로 바꾼 그들은 곧바로 록 역사에 길이 남을 행진을 시작하게 되는데, 야드버즈 출신 답게 블루스를 기반으로 당시 유행하던 사이키델릭, 포크, 펑크, 프로그레시브 등을 조합한 하드 록 사운드는 당시는 물론이고 후세의 많은 후배 로커들에게도 막대한 영향을 끼쳤다.
리더인 Jimmy Page 의 기타 실력은 물론이고, Robert Plant의 끈적끈적함과 샤우팅, 그리고 나머지 두 멤버의 격정적인 연주실력은 곧바로 그들의 매력에 빠지게 만들었다. 음악적 재능말고도 록밴드 답지 않은 섹시함과 당당함, 그리고 세련됨으로 수많은 여성팬들에게 어필을 했고, 수많은 추종자도 양산했다.
수많은 명곡을 발표하며, 록계를 군림하던 Led Zeppelin은 1980년 드러머 John Bonham이 Jimmy Page의 저택에서 과음으로 인한 질식사로 생을 마감하면서 해체하게 된다. 하지만 록 역사상 최고의 재능과 더불어 록 역사상 가장 많은 표절시비가 붙은 불명예로도 꽤 유명하다. 워낙 재능과 실력이 출중해서 많이 묻힌 편..
