Mini Biography

 

Inside Out 출신의 보컬 Zack de la Rocha와 Lock up 출신의 기타리스트 Tom Morello가 주축이 되어 1991년 미국 LA 에서 결성

1992 년 발표한 데뷔 앨범 Rage Against the Machine ... 실험 정신으로 가득한 그들의 앨범은 곧 수많은 마니아를 양산했고, 그들의 폭발적인 반응을 얻었다. (미국내에서만 트리플 플래티넘 달성.)

 

1996년 발표한 Evil Empire와 1999년 발표한 The Battle Of Los Angeles 가 빌보드앨범 차트 1위!! 에 오르며 또 하나의 슈퍼밴드의 등극을 알렸다.

그렇게 록씬에서 그들의 입지를 굳히는 듯 했는데 멕시코계 미국인 보컬 잭 드라 로차가 자신의 뿌리인 멕시코 음악을 한답시고.. (이게 웬 뜬금포..ㄷㄷ) 탈퇴하면서 돌연 해체하게 된다.

 

그래서 밴드의 또 다른 기둥인 톰 모렐로가 보컬 Chris Cornell 을 영입해서 Audioslave를 결성해 활동한다. 그러다가 이후 2007 년 다시 옛 멤버들이 재결합해서 활동을 재개했다는 소식...

 

Rage Against the Machine은 실험 정신 가득하고 반사회적인 사상으로 당시 많은 센세이션을 몰고 왔는데 그런 이면엔 멕시코계 잭 드라 로차와 케냐의 핏줄인 톰 모렐로(무려 하버드대학 출신) 역시 살아오면서 많은 기득권층(백인)에게 차별 받았던것을 경험했기에 그들에겐 그런것이 자연스러운 표출이지 않았을까 싶다.

 

톰 모렐로의 지미 핸드릭스를 연상케 하는 효과음과 밴드의 솔리드한 연주, 그리고 잭 드라로차의 개성 강하고 귀에 팍팍 꽂히는 래핑을 감상 해보시라..
